November Blurb
I must say I am quite pleased with the outcome of the election. I am excited to see what our new president will do for the economy, women’s rights, and domestic violence victims. Nevertheless, I do understand that he has a real mess on his hands and may not be able to clean it up overnight. Still, I am hopeful that he will create the change we need in our country.
I am also quite disappointed in the reaction of some right-wing extremists. I read an article in the paper today citing hate crimes and threats on Obama’s life from white supremacists who are angry that we have elected a black president. I think it’s really sad that we live in a country where people, still, even to this day, hold on to archaic racist views and resort to violence when they’re angry. Besides that, they’re acting like sore losers. When you played sports in high school and your team lost, did you go beat up the members of the other team? No, you sucked it up, shook their hands, and moved on.

One of my favorite blogs, Emotional Abuse and Your Faith, has had some good posts lately.

One year ago this month, I began dating my current husband. We’ve been celebrating that this past week. We still are as much in love with each other as we were when we met!
There was a time when I believed that there were no good men out there. Being in an abusive relationship can cause a person to become jaded. Please don’t give up hope! There is a perfect man out there just for you. Still, I’d advise you to take your time and gain some independence before returning to the dating scene. To learn why, read my article, “Wait Before You Date”.
As more of us free ourselves from abusive relationships, the quality of our lives will improve in years to come. And with the new presidency, the lives of people across the country hopefully will improve as well.
